WELL HELLO
My name is Lorrie, and I’m a fiction writer, copywriter, coach and all-round wordy bird.
On this blog, you can find links to some of the short fiction I write – as well as little pieces I’ve written and published rather than submitting anywhere. If you’re looking for my copywriting/freelance coaching services, or my freelance writing podcast, you’re in the wrong place but clicking those links will sort you.
I’ve had short stories published a number of journals – you can read some of my work here.
I’m also the editor of Halo Literary Magazine – a journal dedicated to showcasing flash fiction by women.
Anything to ask? Fire away. Alternatively, come and see me on twitter @LorrieHartshorn. I don’t bite.
Another award coming your way :-) http://jensinewall.wordpress.com/2012/05/27/sunshine-and-pants/
Thank you, Jensine!

Hi, it’s me again!…tag you’re it! I’ve taken the 7/7/7 challenge. Here are 7 lines (+) from page 7 of my work in progress and I have tagged 7 other writers to do the same… Copy this line and put it in a post called 777 Writer’s Challenge and follow the directions yourself. And please put a link to your post in comments on the 777 Writer’s Challenge post on my blog so I and my readers can see what you share. Thanks!
So glad you found me and followed my blog because it meant i found you! I’m vegetarian too and curry just has to be the best food in the world – although for me the spinach is in the matir panir! x
Hi Helena,
Can’t believe I missed this post – about curry, as well! *Love* paneer – my favourite is saag paneer (of course) but I’d definitely welcome some matir paneer as well!

I want to like this because of your cool update – but I can’t like it twice. I am off to collect daughter from school now but later on I will put my thoughts down about the question posed in your recent blog post regarding anonymity. I have a tale to tell. x
Thank you, Mr Bunny – much appreciated. I’ll head over for a proper read of your comment in a wee while! x

Thanks so much Helena – and congratulations! You deserve it :)
Thanks for liking my little bit of a story.
You’re welcome – really enjoyed it. Out of interest, there are calls for submissions of steam-punk poetry and fiction set in New Orleans being sent out on Twitter at the moment – http://neworleansbygaslight.wordpress.com/call-for-submissions/ Thought it might be your cup of tea :)
Many thanks, again. I will review the submission call.
Are you on Twitter?
I am, but it’s mostly my ranty feminist stuff!
Hi Lorrie! It’s really great to meet you. Thanks so much for commenting on my poetry…I was checking out some of your writing and enjoyed your snippets very much. :)
Hi Louise! Likewise – always nice ot connect with other writers on here! Your poetry’s lovely – and that’s something coming from someone who’s not usually a poetry fan! Look forward to reading more from you :)
:)
Professional editor!? Does that mean I can send you my masters project / thesis to proof read?
Certainly does :) I’ll drop you an email tomorrow with a few details so you can have a look at the services I offer!
Thankyou for dropping by and following my blog. I am always very appreciative of new readers, one can never have enough.
Best regards,
Colin.
P.S.Don’t suppose you know any fabulous publishers that would like my LORDALF novel :) ?
You’re welcome, Colin – looking forward to reading more from you!
I’m afraid I can’t recommend any fabulous publisher in particular – maybe pop along to Fictonaut, Poets and Writers and some of the other big sites to see if anyone could recommend an appropriate publishing house. Or, get marketing and take the self-publishing route! :)
Great blog.Sorry I dont pop by more often but I do read it everyday via email . Keep up the good work :)
Thank you so much – what a lovely thing to say, and it’s fab to know you’re a regular reader.
Don’t worry about popping by more often – I’m a bit of a blog lurker as well; I’m so busy half the time that I often forget to leave footprints where I’ve been :)
Hi there, great blog.

Textual healer. I love it!
Just came across your blog. Read your latest post in freshly pressed. The suspense was killing me. And I wanted to make sure I say hi ^^

Thank you, Art! Wishing you a wonderful 2014 :) x
Oops that was Lorrie I meant of course! As a scientist I’m supposed to be better than that at details…
Oh, don’t worry – I’ve been called far worse!

Thanks Thom!
“I’m left-wing, radical feminist, vegetarian, pro-choice, UK-based mother-of-one, and I’m fond of spinach- and lentil-based curries. I love forests, cities at night, autumn, natural colours and bokeh.”
You could be me, except that I’m not UK-based, and I don’t know what “bokeh” is. Looking it up now.
Then I suspect we’ll be seeing more of each other around these parts! *waves*
