About

WELL HELLO

My name is Lorrie, and I’m a fiction writer, copywriter, coach and all-round wordy bird.

On this blog, you can find links to some of the short fiction I write – as well as little pieces I’ve written and published rather than submitting anywhere. If you’re looking for my copywriting/freelance coaching services, or my freelance writing podcast, you’re in the wrong place but clicking those links will sort you.

I’ve had short stories published a number of journals – you can read some of my work here.

I’m also the editor of Halo Literary Magazine – a journal dedicated to showcasing flash fiction by women.

Anything to ask? Fire away. Alternatively, come and see me on twitter @LorrieHartshorn. I don’t bite.

  3. Hi, I’m really pleased to have discovered your blog (thanks for following mine). I love the inspiring writerly mix here – with cakes and sweet treats to sustain the creativity! My kind of place!

Looking forward to reading more of your insightful writing – and sampling some of the recipes!

  4. Hi, it’s me again!…tag you’re it! I’ve taken the 7/7/7 challenge. Here are 7 lines (+) from page 7 of my work in progress and I have tagged 7 other writers to do the same… Copy this line and put it in a post called 777 Writer’s Challenge and follow the directions yourself. And please put a link to your post in comments on the 777 Writer’s Challenge post on my blog so I and my readers can see what you share. Thanks!

  5. So glad you found me and followed my blog because it meant i found you! I’m vegetarian too and curry just has to be the best food in the world – although for me the spinach is in the matir panir! x

    1. Thank you – couldn’t have a picture taken without my lovely bookcase in the background :D

And yes, editing is a big part of my day-job! Please do get in touch – I’ll direct you to my work website for more info if you like.

  6. I want to like this because of your cool update – but I can’t like it twice. I am off to collect daughter from school now but later on I will put my thoughts down about the question posed in your recent blog post regarding anonymity. I have a tale to tell. x

  7. Hi Lorrie! It’s really great to meet you. Thanks so much for commenting on my poetry…I was checking out some of your writing and enjoyed your snippets very much. :)

    1. Hi Louise! Likewise – always nice ot connect with other writers on here! Your poetry’s lovely – and that’s something coming from someone who’s not usually a poetry fan! Look forward to reading more from you :)

  8. Thankyou for dropping by and following my blog. I am always very appreciative of new readers, one can never have enough.
    Best regards,
    Colin.
P.S.Don’t suppose you know any fabulous publishers that would like my LORDALF novel :) ?

    1. You’re welcome, Colin – looking forward to reading more from you!

I’m afraid I can’t recommend any fabulous publisher in particular – maybe pop along to Fictonaut, Poets and Writers and some of the other big sites to see if anyone could recommend an appropriate publishing house. Or, get marketing and take the self-publishing route! :)

    1. Thank you so much – what a lovely thing to say, and it’s fab to know you’re a regular reader.

Don’t worry about popping by more often – I’m a bit of a blog lurker as well; I’m so busy half the time that I often forget to leave footprints where I’ve been :)

  9. Hi Lorrie,
Really love the image you use for your blog. That, among many other things, draws me back here. I see you also write on 6S? Cool. Looking forward to reading you here and there! –Kristine

  10. “I’m left-wing, radical feminist, vegetarian, pro-choice, UK-based mother-of-one, and I’m fond of spinach- and lentil-based curries. I love forests, cities at night, autumn, natural colours and bokeh.”

You could be me, except that I’m not UK-based, and I don’t know what “bokeh” is. Looking it up now.
